Backups
Tycom understand the requirement for a resilient and reliable backup solution to cater for daily backup requirements. We understand the need to be able to restore files quickly and easily on normal day to day file or folder issues through to the ability to recover a full server or business critical PC or even a full infrastructure restore in the event of a major disaster.
To facilitate this, we use a mix of on-premises resilient storage and cloud-based storage to ensure regular fast backups of servers, data and specified business critical PCs. Backups from on premise are held onsite, and in the cloud covering fast restore and full disaster scenarios.
Cloud data is backed up from 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive) to either the on-site storage or cloud storage as appropriate – the specifics are decided on a client-by-client basis to match the needs of the business.
We monitor backups and report and discuss these daily within our team, with any issues quickly resolved.
When Disaster Strikes
What constitutes a disaster with regards to IT varies from business to business and as such the requirements, timescales and what is expected need to be carefully laid out and agreed between the client and Tycom.
Businesses need to understand the implications of putting an agreed DR plan into use, the timescales for invoking such a plan based on the scale of disaster – ranging from a single virtual server failure where a restore would be the best option through to invoking a full DR scenario with different hardware in the event of a catastrophic loss through fire, water, theft, or everything in-between.
If required, we can also provide the ability to power up and run infrastructure in a cloud environment giving quick access to your systems where downtime would be detrimental to the business.
Cloud DR options and your DR plans should be discussed, agreed, and documented to ensure the correct level of backup is in place prior to a disaster occurring – unfortunately, it is all too common for these requirements to only be thought of when the disaster has already occurred.
